How can I save a voice mail to MP3 ???????

I have two voice mails that I have saved and would like to transfer them to MP3 format. My phone is a Motorola V180 and my carrier is Cingular. Neither of them had a solution for me.

Has anyone ever tried getting their voice mail into MP3 format? If so, how did you do it? If not, does anyome have any other ideas that may work?

To save voicemail messages to MP3, use a service dedicated to the task...

There are several services that allow you to save money by personally guiding the playback of your voicemail messages while recording.

For instance, SaveThatCall allows you to use 3-way calling to dial both it and your voicemail.

After connecting the 3-way call, you will play back the voicemail messages you want to record.

When you hang up, the service sends you an email containing a link to the download.

Downloads are in MP3 format and should be checked for quality before deleting your voicemail messages.

It's a good idea to burn the download file to a CD, or save it permanently to an attached storage device or hard drive.

For anyone else that comes across this, as I did when I was searching...I just recorded my own messages by getting a 3.5 mm cable extension. I put a 2.5mm adapter on it which plugged into the phone's headset connection (may not even need this, depending on your phone). I connected it to my computer, called my voicemail and, after downloading Audacity (a digital recorder) hit record and they were all on my computer in one audio file. You can then convert each message individually to WAV or MP3. Cost was less than $10.
Paying a service is unnecessary. This worked perfectly.
