Car in dash navigation

Considering whether to buy in dash navi factory installed in 2012 Camry XLE or get aftermarket. Does anyone know pros and cons and is aftermarket even a possibility? The factory navi does not allow for passenger to input on touchscreen while vehichle is in motion. That is a useful feature and would like to have it if possible. Any suggestions?

In my opinion, aftermarket navs are lacking in many areas. User interface and speed are the top two problems. Every manufacture tries to give the most features on paper but ignore real world performance. The other issue is that there is no dash kit available for your 2012 Camry yet. Check with http://www.metraonline.com/ and http://www.scosche.com/car-audio for dash kit availability. It looks like were still a few months out. Another option (what I use) is a tablet with a data plan mounted like a portable nav. Performance with google maps is great and I use it outside the car as well. Good luck with your decision.

I installed a chinese unit from NAVDepot.com. I've had it for a year and works great. For 400 bucks, I thought it might be worth a try. And I'm not disappointed at all. Love all the features. And the iGO navigation software is probably the easiest I've used.
