After market in-dash GPS for Volvo XC60

I am about to buy a Volvo XC60. Great car, except for the GPS and iPhone integration options offered by Volvo.

I can only confirm what Brian reported in the XC60 video review. Great car, but the tech sucks. It looks like it is thrown together from what they had lying around in the engineer's corner. Disappointing.

I drive over 50.000 KM per year, so the car is like a 2nd office. Good iPhone integration (or Android phone integration for that matter), would be great.

So I am looking for an after market in-dash GPS with good iPhone integration for music, and podcasts. The phone integration is not OK, so I could live with the standard offer.

As I have not yet ordered the car, the base configuration of the car can be set up in function of which unit will be built and the functions the unit should be provide : Navigation / iPhone integration for music / iPhone integration for phone. I am not particularly tied to the iPhone, if Android phones are more flexible, I could go with one of those.

So, what are my options ? What is worth looking into ?

you can put in the information to what car you have (click "outfit my car") and it will show you the headunits that will fit in your car, and they also send you the stuff to install it incase its not a perfect fit.

The blog above shows what the dash looks like without the navi. I think you could fit something in there, but your'e going to be doing alot of custom work to make it look right. You will probably give up your steering wheel controls and you'll still have buttons for the stock radio in your console.

Honestly, the iphone/ipod blue tooth functionality work just fine for me in my S40.

Pioneer AVIC F500BT & Volvo XC60

Just found a video of a Pioneer AVIC F500BT fitted in the XC60.

The comments are in Dutch - so for those who don't understand : The installers claim this is fully integrated with the onboard sound system. In the video they even show the optional rear-view camera hooked up and an optional entertainment system.

I mailed the company who did this (www.cardynamics.nl) to get a price : 1.299,- including taxes. This price includes the unit and installation.

This video is all in Chinese (?) - so no idea which unit this is. Anyone any ideas ?

Volvo XC60 GPS aftermarket

I myself wanted a built-in unit. In December I purchased thru Aliexpress a unit for $695 with shipping. It seemd to have all I wanted and more. It is now May and they still cannot tell me where the audio outputs are. They say it is a new unit and have no manuals for it. It advertsies stereo, GPS, backup camera and a 4 x45 watt amplifier output. It has NO wiring for audio output, only inputs. It also advertises direct to factory wiring harness but in fact has NO direct plugs.Steering wheel interface is one wire and they suggest trying all of the ones in my steering column to see what works, They are unsure what it controls? The mapping program SD card is missing. They will not answer emails. They use many names, mainley Chinese-Factory.com. Any Auto is also one of their covernames. They us several variations of the chinese factory type email address. I am now out almost $900 and 5 months of waiting. I would like to kno what works short of the outdated Garmin 765 which I put in my truck 3 years ago.
Keep your money and avoid Chinese equipment. There is no way to get a refund once you accept the shipment.
