Add Nav to Honda with rear entertainment system

We have a 2009 Honda Odyssey with a Rear Entertainment System. The DVD player is separate unit and has controls on the head unit. It also has the wireless head phones feature, so when my wife and I are sick of listening to Thomas the Tank Engine, the kids wear those and we listen to music. Any hope in finding a Nav system that would be compatible with this setup? Thanks in advance for the help.

You're right, the rear entertainment system (RES) is tied into the factory headunit, so there's no way that I know of (short of some serious modding) to get it to work with an aftermarket navigation receiver. So you have three options: Have the OEM DVD navigation system installed at your dealership (expensive), replace both the headunit and the RES (also expensive), or grab a portable navigation system like a Garmin or TomTom.

having a portable gps is the best in these cases. i myself wanted to get a good system in my old but very dear 91 civic. finally i went with the portable gps and it has been working very nicely till now.the tomtom system is quite good.
