Ford 2010 Fiesta - Wait for eco-boost motor?

How much greater gas mileage will we get from the 2010 Ford Fiesta with the eco -boost engine? When will it be available in the car? Sounds like the first rollout has the normal engine.

When it shows up for the Fiesta is anyone's guess. But unless the launch platform configuration falls flat on its face, I tend to doubt that Ford will bring it to market right away. If the car with the 1.6L sells really well, they'll probably want to pick that money tree as long as they can before spicing up the lineup with the EcoBoost.

i guess we will have to wait a long time for this. i myself have a ford f350 dually and am looking on ways to increase the mpg.

I think they'll offer it in late 2010. If it sells well the first quarter, the Fiesta with eco-boost will be compelling competition for the MazdaSpeed3.
Unless Ford puts the engine that's in the Speed3 in the Fiesta..?

Fiesta vs. Mazdaspeed3?

The Fiesta isn't in direct competition with the Mazda3 or the Mazdaspeed3, both of which are about the same size as a Ford Focus. In countries that have it, the Ford Focus RS is a better analog to the Mazdaspeed3.

On the other hand, the Fiesta is a much smaller car on a smaller platform and will compete with the Mazda2, which should be hitting the market at about the same time.

Now, a Mazdaspeed2 would be interesting...
