Anyone own a Toyota RAV4?

Hello,

We are in the market for a new vehicle. The Toyota RAV4 is at the top of our list. Is there anyone out there who may own a late-model RAV4 and would be kind enough to share their experiences with the vehicle. Consumer Reports and the dealer info can only go so far...

I fix them for a living.

The Rav4 is a good,solid choice.There are no major tech service bulletins or recalls on them.

If you choose the V6 option,you're getting the 270HP Avalon engine.You won't see this advertized but the V6 Rav4 is the fastest vehicle Toyota makes.

I heard on a car repair radio show that if you get the model that has the center differential (all wheel drive?), you should change the fluid in the differential on occasion, because if you don't, at about 50-60K miles, the differential starts making a clunkity sound, especially when doing tight turns. Nothing terrible, just something that basic maintenance will take care of and it's something that isn't done, even at the dealer. Other than that, I still see early RAV4's driving around, and this is a good sign.

just bought a 2009

purchased a 2009 Rav4 Limited, after having drove about every small crossover suv on the planet. Its solid, a lot for the money in comparison. great fit and finish. We got the v-6, lots of power. Reasonable gas mileage. We read every review we could get our hands on, including consumers with older Rav's, and anything that could have been considered a negative in the past, has been addressed by Toyota. (they were very minor things), We have probably purchased a dozen new vehicles in our lifetime, domestic and foreign, and this one ranks the tops, with my Nissan Titan pickup, a close second. You wont be disapointed in your purchase.

i own a 2004, 2 wheel drive RAV4. I bought it new and have almost 195,000 miles on it.
I change the oil and filter about every 3,000 miles. I'm on my 3rd set of tires, ..., brakes, andother routine maintenance. It runs great and I hope to buy another one someday ... if this one ever wears out.
