96 grand cherokee 4.0 cranks but won't start

Ok , I have fuel pressure but no spark.checked plugs,wires,dist cap and coil everthing to this point is good.I have seen a simular prob on my 90 wrangler (icm) but I do not know where it is located on this jeep to have it checked.The fuel and voltage gauge doesn't give any reading either.I have already changed crankshaft position sensor. Any ideas would be great.

There's two similar sensors. Crank and Cam, both can cause this. Did you check them both?

Changed crankshaft position sensor.Is it possible to have camshaft sensor tested before replacing? also where is ignition control module located?

Sadly, not really. You'd need a oscilloscope, or an ODB 2 scanner that can display real time sensor readings. The cheapest, which may not do that is $100 and goes up to $500. I doubt you'd do that when the sensor is $20. The sensor produces a square wave, so a volt meter is useless.

Sadly I do not know enough about your specific model to tell you where exactly it is. It might be inside the distributer. It seems manufactures use the lighting method of placement, that being "never the same place twice". You should pick up a chiltons would be my guess.

You check the ignition control module or the ingiter? both could either be in the dizzy or externally, follow the wires and you will find it. If those are good (should be able to test them using a multimeter) then maybe there isn't any power going to them.

I have the same problem with my jeep,even down to the guages.I replaced my cps and the ignition coil and it still wont fire.please let me know if you correct the problem,what it was and if I get mine running first ill be sure to let you know what the fix is. thanks!!! ok here is the fix ....if your jeep has alarm in it.use the key with the chip in it and from the passenger side lock the door and then unlock it.then try to start the car.works for me every time.

EFI fuse?

Is there a fuse for the EFI? Maybe the computer isn't coming on, and it controls the ignition.
