Are CNET site reviews reliable?

Dear CNET, I know you get thousands of hits each day and a large number of tech queries as well, so this topic is not about the timeliness of response. Rather, I am more concerned about the accuracy of reviews posted on your site.
One example I'll cite has to do with a third party site called '101phones.com.' I was referred to them by Panasonic as a good source for accessories no longer manufactured, so as always I researched them prior to visit. Every online review I read from Epinions to Yahoo gave this company a bad rating, with comments such as 'Stay away', 'Horrible' and Deceptive practices' which were the most positive statements I could find...
CNET, on the other hand, currently rates 101phones.com ( http://reviews.cnet.com/4011-5_7-307679.html ) as a 5-Star Certified e-tailer!! There are other examples I could site but the main issue is: How is CNET 'evaluating' these companies/ sites? What standard or criteria are they using, if any?
Many come to this site looking for trusted advice, yet when I see such a great disparity in ratings I have to question CNET's accuracy. Is someone asleep at the wheel or worse yet, just does not care?
It's a valid question...
