Community poll forum: 12/14/04 Are you switching to Firefox?

I already have it since two months and I am very pleased with it as it is speed (more than internet explorer) and easy to use. I greatly appreciate its security and its real possibility to stop or not the cookies and its memory capability vs the cookies for specific sites

I switched probably 3 or 4 weeks ago. Man, I'm glad I did! I pretty much had a handle on spam, hijacking and spy & adware, but was still getting it; AdAware SE always showed a few items and so did SpyBot. Like another guy whose post prompted me to switch, the first couple of scans yielded 2 or 3 objects, subsequent scans showed clean and clear.

Maybe 2 of the hundreds of sites I visit each week have problems due to their proprietary linkage to IE, but otherwise, it's been a true pleasure.

My Daughter has a Dell which was taking forever to do everything; my Brother had a similar scenario. I spent an hour with each on the phone upgrading to AdAware SE and then switching to FireFox. They're both extremely pleased; they tell me so almost daily.

I had a little trouble with Thunderbird; Verizon wouldn't recognize my password so I went back to Outlook. Verizon's customer service says they don't speak Mozilla. Their loss. To me, Mozilla rules...It won't even do any good to tell MSIE to look out; they will die. Hope that's not considered a personal attack!

I downloaded Firefox but have not yet decided if I will switch over or not. I may at least try it.

I have a question which may or may not have already been addressed. Will Firefox personnel issue immediate patches when vulnerabilities are discovered re its browser???

My idea is that Firefox is safe, from AvantBrowser I have
no data, since I find that 4 browsers is sufficient.
I use Opera and Firefox for normal browsing and use Netscape 7.2 and Mozilla 1.7.3 forcomplete safe banking via internet.
Like about half the members of HCCnet, the biggest computerclub in the world, I still use Windows98 SE to avoid all problems and leaking of Windows XP.

I love Firefox. It is faster, more secure, and easier on the eyes than IE. The only problem I have with Firefox at the moment is that a lot of websites are written around IE or require Active X controls.
