I'm convinced that the old habits must be reviewed. Energy saving and optimization of even home little aplliances untannded consumption can be of advantage not simply to the individual, but to everyone.
I switch off my pc everytime I'm not using it for longer than one hour or soon after a deep antivirus scan. I leave not lamp turhen up in the apartment - but one, the only one I need, And I still use energy-spare lamps ( you know, those funny lamps that cost a lot but allow you in the year to reduce power demand). I use no electric heating at all, and I love to stay at candlelight. Swiching off TV set - no standby mode at all- can save up to 140 per year. Keeping the freezer free from frost and keeping the fridge level on "2" ensures a certain economy. Life in Italy suddenly turned to be very hash- and not only for me. Instead of my car I use a moped , good in traffic and 35 kmrs/liter....wow. Using flush with a certain attention saves 9 ltrs. of water each time you must use it. I think that italian people have been living like pashas and they couldn't afford it so far...now it's time to realize that the first move is the only move - reduce every sort of consumption of every kind of resources. Ricycling, cutting off unnecessary needs and so on is a hard way, mainly when you're not accustomed, but....no way out, it's a fact and we have to face it. Yet I dont understand why people still gets in debts for a new car, for instance.
In conclusion, I think that I have at least two good resons: saving money and saving resources at the same time. Why should I spend 4.40 for 20 **** when I can buy 100 empty tubes and filters, 40 grs. of tobacco for 4,00 and manufacture myself at least 50-60 **** !!
In my country we say :- an urgent need can make and old hag to run". Well, we're ALL old hags now.
