Custom built but under powered for Vista
I have a Huge case, which has housed at least 3 different motherboards. I keep this case because it has 5 fans built in, and a lot of room to breath. I have upgraded the motherboard 2x. The last time I bought the board with the capability to expand to 2.X AMD CPUs. But I only bought a 1.74. It runs under XP Pro, and absolutely will NOT be upgradeable to Vista. The problem is the new Video board requirements. There are other deficits, but this is the stone cold killer. However, the machine has 3 HDs to total nearly a half a terrabyte of drive space, a Plextor (TDK) CD Burner, and a Plextor (TDK) External DVD Burner. Soundblaster Audigy Platinum EX, Wireless network, decent video card, wireless keyboard and mouse, Cambridge surround 5.1 speaker system. It struggles with media manipulation software, always seeming bogged down in the loading, but I attribute half of that to Roxio's burdensome main menu interface. But it is slow. I use the machine for music and photos and now digital video movies of my grandkid, etc. Someday I'll upgrade, but for now, it performs, if somewhat sluggishly.
