Community poll forum: Do you use Internet Explorer 7?

Wife likes IE7 I like Firefox been using Firefox for a couple of years now. Frankly IE7 is not all that bad and all my friends who have not used Firefox before love the tabbed browser feature now included in IE. I like the themes and extensions you can get with Firefox but for those folks unwilling to give Firefox a try IE7 is still a usefull browser that most people will find works just fine.

It looks like most folks have installed it and (presumably) like it. That would describe me, too. I have been using Firefox, but when the IE 7 Beta came out, I tried it. Turns out I like IE better than Firefox. I deleted Firefox last week just 'cause I don't like having lots of unused programs and files floating around on my system.

IE7 has been a nightmare for me. I know that a few of you like IE7 but I've had nothing but problems since I upgraded to this bug infested browser. I experienced browser misdirects, critical alerts showing up on my virus software, and a number of other problems associated with it.
Being that I trusted Microsoft to develop a product that was stable and virus free (naive I know),I didn't at first realize IE7 was the culprit until after many hours of running various virus software, registry programs, reading through a ton of tech review boards, until it dawned on me where all of my issues derived from. Still in disbelief, I even removed IE7 and reinstalled IE6, cleaned all of the residual bugs and viruses and my problems were gone. Being the masochist I am, I installed IE7 again and sure enough the same problems came back. Well needless to say I removed IE7 again and because I am so mad at Microsoft I removed IE6 as well and only use Firefox 2.0!!!

If you have a hp printer, IE 7 will disable your printer software. Nice, huh. I use Opera, Firefox and Konqueror for 90% of my browsing needs in linux. I only use Windows and IE6 when I have no other choice.

I am a mis mgr and we have al users restricted to install o do any administrative task, when we need to install or configure any application we run ie6 or windows explorer with the option run as and log in as a administrator equivalent and do the administrator task that we need to run, but with ie7 you can not run it as run as because it will always default to the restricted user and it does not let you do any administrative task, you have to log off and log as a administrator equivalent to accomplish your task.
For this reason we don use ie7

Having read all the posts and reports I could find about IE7 - and trust me there's a Lot of them - I decided to give it try.
I am very happy with it. and don't understand all the concerns. For once, Microsoft did something right. LOL
It just could be that the people who have problems with it are those that simply don't like change. after all, it's harder to learn a new format of an item than to learn when you have no prior experience.

I have been using IE7 and though it took a little getting used to, I like it just fine. I hardly ever use Firefox anymore. The people complaining about it just can't handle change. If anyone listened to those people, we'd still be using Windows95.

One day I noticed that the logo on IE changed. I use Firefox and Thunderbird so I didn't pay much attention. I figured that the logo change was a part of a windows update and didn't check it out until this poll came out.

After all the **** I put up with using IE 6, I have no intention of trying IE 7 until Firefox pisses me off enough to change. At that time, I will have another look at Opera as well.

I upgraded to IE7 shortly after it came out with no problems. I use Explorer only when necessary (such as for updating Windows) or when checking to see if my browser (Firefox) is the cause when I have connection problems. Some sites seem only to run on IE. A problem with Firefox and other browsers is that third party programs sometimes update for IE first, then may or may not get around to supporting other browsers. A big problem I have now is that Spyware Doctor does not support Firefox for bad cookies.

-After finding out how to restore the menu line I love it . For one -thing you can't pay bills like Dish, Qwest and Verizon with ole Fire -Foxy. The speed and ease of transition is great also after you learn -to hold down the control button while adding a new page to the tabs. --- George Kinnison

actually I have had no problem with using online bill payment with my institution. Compatibility is up to the individual site NOT the browser. And where FF doesnt work IEtab will.

Only site i use IE7 for is M$U and anything that demands it through hard coding. I installed it but ive got this bizzare bug that causes the dissappearing "auto hide" screen to infinitely blink and forces me to kill it via task manager.

I find the toolbars and buttons far to small and the interface isnt as good as compared to firefox. The phishing dectector is a gimmick to me because common sense eliminates the need for it. IE also doesnt have the gods of coloured tabs, ColourZilla Show IP and the 45 someodd other extensions i have on FFox.

I use Firefox as my regular everyday browser but I've got an investment program that only works properly with IE. That's the only thing I use IE for but it has worked seamlessly with both IE6 and now IE7.

I have installed and uninstalled IE 7 twice. I like the security features, as I imagine everyone does, and I am especially fond of the tab feature which saves SO MUCH TIME but when I couldn't play any trailers or video clips, for example: from CNN, I got frustrated and went back to IE6. I know nothing about computer technology; so I am pretty well stuck. I have installed the Windows Live toolbar on my IE6, which allows tab browsing, not as good as IE7, but my computer crashed 3 times yesterday while in use and I don't know if that had anything to do with it. Also, there are probably fragments of IE7 in my registry which I don't dare tinker with because I don't understand it and don't want to lose everything on my computer. Perhaps IE7 bugs will be gone soon. Someone give me a valid reason to switch back to IE7.

After installing this so called "Better" explorer I've had troubles with my printers(x2) My scanner and my camera program. Some of the photo editting programs seem to be somewhat slower. I've had to pull out the Microsoft Spyware program that didn't seem to be doing anything as well. This left me with a black square in my tool bar that says it is MSN Messenger. I like some of the features "Delete Browsing History" seems to be more efficient and quicker. The Tabs open quicker... If I have anymore troubles with the printers and scanner it's outta there sooner than later, back to IE6, at least those things worked in IE6.

here that isn't technologically impaired in some fundamental way? Really. This is just a complete wasteland.

The ONLY issue I have with IE7 is Flash content seems to run much slower. I haven't yet determined why or if the issue is even related to the browser at all, but I have observed it across several platforms.

Other than that, a cursory glance indicates the vast majority of posters on this board have no business sitting at a keyboard. People that can't figure out how to show menus, can't find this, can't find that, can't read icons, can't run almost totally idiot proof install/deinstall routines, can't secure their environments. And then writing hyper-critical posts from a position of TOTAL DUMB IGNORANCE.

So, please, load up Firefox or Mozilla or whatever. Even better, take the plunge into to dark waters of total open source and go ahead and load up LINUX. Linux is SO superior, let's see how LINUX works for the near-illiterate! There are tools for Office files, so you can still work, but, please! Be gone! Help the Windows community to purge itself of such deadweight!
