IE&7 Disaster

I have downloaded IE7 and have taken it off.
This thing is so buggy and so confusing that it is
literally suicidal to use it.
Obviously Microsoft feels the same way because the institutional support is lukewarm at best.
Normally when a new Microsoft app appears there is a
shelf full of books (most inaccurate and unneeded) in the local bookstores. The only title available on IE7 at Amazon is seven months away. Tells you something?
Anyhow I downloaded IE7 at the same time I put an Omega Rev disk in my system and one or both of the two created major damage. I'm waiting for the installer now to put a new Motherboard in.
I just don't know what to say other than "I'M MAD AS
HELL AND WON'T TAKE IT ANYMORE"

I DL'd IE7 RC1 and the damn thing mde my machince run so slow that I had to uninstall it. If this verson does the same it's not worth it. I have 1.75 GB Ram and it made my computer act like I had only 256 Ram. I got rid of it and my computer started running at it's normal speed. Much faster! without IE7

I've had IE7 for awhile now. But theres one thing I wish was diferent. When you click a link and it's supposed to pop up in another window. That's what it does, pops up in another window. I would rather it just open in another tab instead of whole new window. Well besides that it's cool.
You can change the Tab behavior

In the prefrecnces you can set new windows to pop up in a tab or a new window. I think the only place this may become an issue is on pages that were designed to have a sized popup screen. Other than that, the tabs work decently well. I think I liked Opera's tabs the best.

If you have a mouse with a scroll wheel in the middle (I think the term is "wheel") just push down on it while having your cursor over a link and it will open in a new tab. It worked for me and I just tried it a couple of mintes ago.

Why?
Because it will not work in my operating system.
Listen, I use Windows 2000 Professional, and the reason I use Windows 2000 Professional is because when XP was first released I went out and got my copy like a good little Microsoft Windows user should, and installed it, and that was a mistake, I found Windows XP so lame that I formated the hard disk, and went back to Windows 2000 Professional, and never looked back. As a matter of fact, I have thrown away the XP disk and took the loss. if Windows Vista is as lame as XP was, I will do the same thing to that operating system, throw it in the trash.
Why is it lame?
by mrniceguy35 - 11/1/06 11:43 AM
Okay so you gave your opinion that you think Windows XP is lame. Problem is you give absolutely no reason why! Why do you think it is lame? How could it be more lame than Windows 2000 when XP is supposed to have more features and more updated. It won't work on your Windows 2000 Professional version? Of course it won't, because it was never made to or didn't you make sure your system met the requirements for IE7.

Before I get started, My system runs any OS I care to install on it, including Windows VISTA, been there, done that to.
As for what you call features, the only fearture that I see in Windows XP is Windows media player. If you want to play a music CD, Media player, if you want to play an Mp3 file, Media player. Microsoft Media Player is part of what makes Windows XP so lame. They even took out the Kodak Imaging software. The wordpad software that is in XP want's to save everything in rich text format, at least with Windows 2000 Professional I have an option as to what format I want my document saved in.
I will say it again Windows XP is so lame, that I will not use it.

To me it just means yet another round of bugs causing more problems for webmasters and and more sites designed for IE that won't work properly with anything else. Dump it is the trash so we can all have an easier time.

Internet Explorer is so far out of touch that it's like a Yugo being sold for the same price as a Porsche.
The only thing I currently even use IE for is accessing my Hotmail account via MSN Messenger and Windows Update (gotta love Microsoft for forcing you to use their products). I downloaded Firefox a while ago (about a year?) and haven't looked back. I have no reason to download or use IE7 since my usage is so limited as it is. Firefox is a much more intuitive user interface, easier to view (downloadable, customizable graphics interfaces--colors in general terms) and in most cases considerably faster to load a page (or pages in my case--I normally have 10 or more tabs open at one time). I love the adblock and flashblock feature which keeps my system very clean while surfing the internet.
If, at any point in time, I am forced to go to IE7, I will no longer use my PC's for Hotmail or any internet usage--they will become strictly gaming machines and I will convert over fully to Mac. I have both in my home at this time and have been quickly learning the reason that Mac has such a loyal and dedicated customer base. I have 5 Mac desktops, 1 Mac laptop and 4 PC desktops and I enjoy the time spent on my Macs much, much more than on the PC's, not the least reason of which is the absence of IE. IE has not been present on the Mac since version 5.5 was released for OS 9 (which I am occasionally forced to use on my oldest Mac since Firefox and Safari are not available for OS 9) and I consider that a very good thing.
Now, if only I could find a way to eliminate IE from my PC altogether (blast you Windows Update!)...

For all of the reasons I have seen stated here so far is exactly the reasons I will not touch Explorer period no matter what version. I have the version that came with my new notebook simply because like other stated you are forced to use it at times. I still use the older NS and never had a virus and I like the e mail that comes with the program. I go on IE the other day to talk to HP a company that forces you to use IE if you have to to use chat and I get a virus and I had all of my security on. I am still looking for a replacement for my old NS and haven't found it yet. But in the mean time I rather use a old verson of NS then IE , new or old.

I'm very happy with firefox, so why should I change ?
So it would be a good idea to download the new ie even if you never use it. Since it is a critical part of the ms os downloading ie7 will help secure your system.
If firefox floats your boat use firefox, but if you are using windows you should still make sure ie is uptodate and has the most resent patches.

I tried to install twice already. I dont know if anyone else is having this problem, but installation goes through. System says it has to restart the computer. Just before restarting it says a set up file cant open. When it restarts the explores freezes when you open. Did the exact same thing two times.

I recently downloaded it on a lap top and i tried out the rc version on my desktop, and i dont necessarily think its any faster of looks better. but if you are one of those people who has to have the latest things and thinks a gold stripe through the E looks cool then go for it and dl it.

I now mainly use Mozelle Firefox which I find much more user friendly and versatile.
I am partially sighted and one facility I particularly like with Firefox is that I am able to increase the size of the display very easily 'Control +. Each press increases the size.
It is much more informative than IE7 too.

As with all things new I upgraded to IE7. Bad choice. Easily crashed my Yahoo Messenger. Intermittently shows that I am not connected to the internet when in fact I am. Errors on history webpages. Always have to retype the URL's. I wish i hadn't installed it. I should have waited after the beta phase to install to make sure it doesn't cause more problems. Bit difficult to get used to also.
IE7 was a bad upgrade for me

IE6 was giving me a few bugs especially in my hotmail where it was plagued with "?" characters in almost every message which had text in it. So when i saw IE7 Release Candidate one i thought of it as relief so I upgraded immediately. It fixed the problem, TEMPORARILY, and I am now having to deal with a new problem where many sites do not load up right or causes IE to crash.
So along came Mozilla Firefox. It became my most used browser until the full release of IE7 came out, and then it became my Default Browser because none of those bugs im havin has been fixed. IE is also such a memory hog!
Main reason I haven't upgraded to Firefox 2 yet is cause IE7 has made me "upgradaphobic". Hopefully i get over it soon enough.
Same here...

I've been using both IE7 and FireFox 2 for several weeks now. FF2 is far superior in many ways, but most importantly: IT DOESN'T NAG ME TO USE MICROSQUASH SECURITY APPS!
I have yet to reach my personal homepage when launching IE7, it *ALWAYS* nags me about my security. I take care of my OWN security, thankyou, WITHOUT the "assistance" of MS theives.
Knowing what I do regading the conspiracy between MS, Dell, and Intel, the Big Brother software in MS software, and how MS is illegally locking 3rd-party security vendors out of WinV, I am ready to utterly trash my WinXP pro in favor of Linux!

No I will not use it as Microsoft is so intent on locking there programs down so users cannot use a friends copy and such, the programs are much slower to use along with other security issues that makes it a pain in the pituty. Along with reading the nightmares from other users who say to stick with IE 6. So that is what I am going to do. Just like the Vista they are coming out with. Too expensive and too much internal stuff in the program dealing with securtiy which Microsoft does not care about, just selling software and let the group of users to report problems with their software instead of building it correctly to start with. They need to worry more about the quality of their product along with price and quit trying to catch someone using a non registered copy. They might actually start building better software if they would put customers first, not price.
