Community poll forum: Will you download and use Internet Explorer 7?

I just have not got around to the Explorer update - not a priority. FireFox is my default browser. I have Explorer on my desktop also which I use infrequently for Windows updates and because some websites do not load well on FireFox.

I did not know that there is a new version of Firefox; I tried IE7 & did not like it as well as Firefox. Now I would like to download FF2 but....do I need to uninstall my current version, which I searched for and I think it's 1.8. I could not find my answer on FF site. Any info would be appreciated.

You do not need to uninstall the current version of FireFox. Go to this link: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/ to download FireFox 2.0

I have been using FF for a couple of years now and really like it. The tabs have IE beat hands down. Just a little note some of the extensions used for FF 1.5 may not work in 2.0

See if this FF extension isn't what you're looking for... (The FF developers deliberately deleted the button for FF2 - this should restore it for you).

Betsy if Mozilla Suite and SeaMonkey are any indication of what to expect when downloading an update to a Mozilla product the answer is, no you won't have to uninstall a previous version. During the install process you will receive a message that a previous version has been detected, and you will be asked to consent to its removal. Once you've given your permission the older version will be removed and the current version installed. The install will not remove address books or currently stored e-mail messages.

I've been using FireFox for a couple of years now, and it's head and shoulders above E7. There are add-ons you can use to emulate E6 for some websites if required, its tabbed browsing is "king" and the themes are clever.

Nope ... I only have a copy of E6 on my desktop for the occasional Windows Update use. There are too many geeks out there hacking Explorer for my comfort levels.

With the last version, there is a utility that allows copying of bits and pieces of web pages. It was very popular,can't remember the name. I noticed a utility with the same name but different function. Ah. I thought. Let's give it a try. I did and was suddenly infected with popups everywhere. I informed Mozilla of this and they said, "Yeah, we know about that.", then did nothing. When I download FF2 one of the first things I noticed on the talk boards was a complaint about the same thing with the same response.
Mozilla wouldn't know about consumer protection if it came up and bit them in the ass.

It has tabs! There, there's a good point, right? Too bad it messed up my computer. I had to do a restore so it would go away and I could use my MSN... updates. what a pain in the...I'll stick with Firefox, thanks.

Are Microsoft delaying the release of Outlook Express 7 or is it due out with IE7? Or maybe we'll all have to upgrade to Windows Vista - I don't think so!

In the beginning I was trying out the main web browsers such as Opera, Netscape, Mozilla, Mozilla's Firefox & Internet Explorer 6.
I tried each of them out for about a month each, some less than that , IE-6 was the over all winner because some of the web sites did not recognize some of the lesser known browsers. I was judging the speed of the browsers loading the web pages and Firefox would have won if it wasn't for some of the web sites web pages not working on it properly, e.g eBay.
When Microsoft released IE-7 Beta #1 , I jumped at the opportunity to try it out and stayed with all the test released versions. IE-7 RC I thought that was the best out of the IE-7 test series, IE-7 was still slow loading up a web page but still better than IE-6 .... Then came news Mozilla had released Firefox-2, the first page loaded (wow :O) tested it against the web sites that the old versions of Firefox failed on ... (wow :O) Firefox-2 on every web site worked perfectly and the speed was very impressive. The little Add-ons you can use plus the themes are very easy to download and to use, customizing your browser appeals to me and the ifox theme is the one I like to use I hope this is some help to you

I know what you mean. I take it a little personally when people get upset after I have reconfigured my computer to function or even look how I want it to. I really don''t understand why, I mean it's my machine, I paid for it and I was actually under the impression that was the whole idea anyway. If something is more convenient for me located in a different area than where the designers put it, what's the big deal? Like you, I like having certain tools at the ready and I prefer my screen set at a certain resolution.600X800, and I also liked having auto fil on Google. I really don't understand the convenience of having all of that empty screen. I haven't downloaded 7 yet and I'm just starting to read the experiences of others that have. I don't like to jump into anything too quick.

Tride it, messed up my MSN, contacted MSN Tech support, contected Qwest support, finally both told me it won't work with MSN, and wasn't supported by MSN!?!?!?
Had to remove it to get things working again.

There are some "features" of Internet Explorer 7 that I'm not ready to embrace. Once is the exclusion of images from non-secure sites that are meant to be displayed on a secure page. I need that capability at the moment, so unless Internet Explorer 7 has a way to override the more stringent rules, I'll stick with IE6.

Not that I use IE6 - I'm a devoted Firefox user - but there are some sites that only work with Microsoft's version of HTML, and for those, I intend to keep using IE6.
