Community poll forum: Which browser do you use most?

I cannot let this discussion pass without putting in a good word for OmniWeb. It runs fast and looks right on the Mac. OmniWeb has the tab drawer, which actually shows a small image of each open tab along the side of the screen. A user can open a group of bookmarked sites all at once simply by dragging the bookmarks into the tab drawer. OmniWeb also allows the user to easily set the browser to identify itself as another browser when visiting a certain web site. In other words, OmniWeb can be Firefox on one web site, Safari on another web site and Internet Explorer on yet another. OmniWeb will remember these settings each time you visit the sites.

On the other hand, OmniWeb does cost US $29.95.

If you find that terminal code, I'd love to try it.

It seems that rather than random flames, everyone has broken of into their own little group, and is just padding their web browser ego. :? I will upset things about by pointing out how little speed matters once you get a virus or a bunch of spyware.

I do not know which brows and er is the fastest, but I will state which ones are more secure on the windows platform. Internet explorer, including 7 has support for Active X, which has been used for more security exploits, than it has ever done for productivity. I know, I had to make an ActiveX applicaiotn once. Many users assumed "oh, activeX is good because it runs such and such", so why not trust it from all sites, then bad things happened that we had to clean up.

I personally don't like how everything is laid out in IE 7. However, I am impressed by Microsoft's closer compliance with Internet standards. Although they have a long way to go, IE 7 is easier to create web pages for than any of its more recent predecessors. Still, IE will never beat firefox because the open source community is always one step ahead with its features.

I use IE 7 Beta, and to this point, it is the best browser on the market, including FireFox, Opera, Netscape and any other browser you can name.

Frankly, even though IE 7 Beta is better than Netscape 8, I still use Netscape, it is a very good browser and I would venture to say, it is as good as FireFox anyday.

Look, I have been using IE7 beta for several months, and it is great! I have tried Firefox, and it just seems slower. Even though I know that tabbed browsing came directly from Firefox, I still think that microsoft did a great job with it.

I use it for the speed. Every other browser takes much longer to launch and consumes more resources, this includes Firefox (although I miss the adblock extension; Opera's adblock is disappointing) and IE.

It is faster than IE or Firefox, loading up. Also, it is safer than IE.

I am not a true computer geek, so I like Opera in that it's widgets. security features, and the features using right click (since I do alot of that anyway) are very convenient.Opera's add-ons are easy and fast to download and install. Downloads, in general, are faster than IE, too.

I like the features it has, and the easy customizing. It is fun and easy to use.Doesn't crash or is not slughish, like IE.

I have tried Firefox and Thunderbird, a couple of times.Always ended up uninstalling them.Don't dislike them, but more of a hassle for me, slower than Opera, just not as convenient, fast and (for me) as enjoyable as Opera.

opera is now the fastest among all browsers. i use firefox before (because opera 8 is slow) but when opera 9 was released, i immediately downloaded it. i found out that opera now opens pages faster than firefox. what i like most on this browser (even before i use firefox) is that the appearance customization is fast and easy. i also like its low use of computer resources unlike firefox which uses a lot of memory. the application opens very fast as if you're opening notepad application (on a 512mb RAM, 1.66GHz processor CPU). what's new on this browser is bittorrent support for downloads.

I love opera's features like instant customizeable skins, mouse gestures, and a unique rss reader that tops IE7's and firefox's. Plus it renders HTML 100% completely. Too bad it doesn't support ASP, and too bad not all websites are built to work in opera. That's why I have to use firefox to check e-mail.

That must be an amazing e-mail system if you're still using it. Aren't they on Netscape 8 or something like that?

I use MSN Explorer. Version 9.20.009.3000.
I like it. Yes, it uses Internet Explorer 6, but I have had no security issues, I have "rich" email, 2 gigabytes email storage, Nice interface. Lot's of features. To each His or Her own, I say.

a very few websites I have to use IE and even upgrading to the latestIE version 7.0 it locks up. I hope soon I *never* have to use MS IE for my work and surfing.

Firefox NEVER locks up and is much quicker and the adblock
extension does a good job. I use firefox 5.1.

But what am I supposed to see? Both pages render the same?

I'm a fan and frequent Firefox flyer, but the whole W3C thingy just isn't apparent to me with your website.
