Listening to Recorded Books

I got a great deal on a Creative Zen MicroPhoto 8 GB MP3 player today - $59.
What I want it for is two things:
1. Listening to recorded music.
2. Listening to recorded books.
The music part is not problem. I've figured out how to move music from my PC to the player and play the music.
But I'm having trouble with recorded books. I put them (from CDs) on to my PC and then I want to put them on the player and listen.
But it doesn't seem to work.
The files are Windows Media Audio files (.wma) so I thought they should work.
Any help out there? Should I take it back and get the Creative Zen V Plus?
