Community poll forum: What brand of printer do you own, and are you happy with it?

i have a canon pixma ip1600....yes i like it, except for not having a paper tray...although what can you expect for under $50.00, right???

Last year's iP3000, 4000, 5000, etc. were it. Unfortunately Canon saw fit to go with tanks with active tech in them that no one has been able to clone yet. And some of the cheap models actually have integrated heads. So long Canon - glad I have my iP3000 for as long as it lasts. Maybe someone will have cloned the new tanks by the time it dies...
. About the only one looking out for their customers any more is Brother - the only one left still making inkjet printers (well, their MFCs) that use passive ink tanks. Too bad they have had this defective print head problem. (Error 41, etc.)
. I've had great luck with ink from http://www.swiftink.com and Staples' mid-grade photo paper - great prints! and often on sale.

Ditto for me... I have a Canon iP5000 printer and I totally love it. It still uses the BCI-3e Black and the BCI-6 color ink tanks, which are really inexpensive. It also has 2 paper sources, so I keep regular 24 lb. paper in the top feed, and 4X6 photo paper in the tray. Plus, it duplexes (prints both sides of the page)- something I've been looking for in an inkjet for a very long time. And it prints excellent photos. I hope it lasts at least as long as my Canon S600 printer did, and the only reason it died was cheap generic ink, which clogged a print head to the point it finally couldn't be cleaned. I'm not planning on using anything in the iP5000 except genuine Canon ink.

I must take issue with you on your assessment of the Dell 3000. I have been around these printers and loved them from the start. I think Dell has once again produced a capital product that will please its users for years to come (or at least as long as it takes them to introduce an even better printer!). Of course, one must consider that my experience is based on office use, where excellent colour is not the most important of the features...but it still seems excellent to me. The print speed in black rivals the reigning Xerox 8500/8550 series, and though colour speed could be somewhat better, it's not horrific. The one admittedly bad thing about this printer is that the cost of toner cartridges are extrodinarily expensive, almost the cost of a printer replacement. Still I have been able to reduce the cost of toner by using compatibles...I've used a place called Supplies Guys with superb success (http://www.suppliesguys.com). Overall, I think if you deem the printer a failure, you may not have had realistic expectations to begin with, friend.

I use the Canon S800. I love the 6 separate tanks and the quality of the photos. I also use a Canon Compact dye sublimation printer for printing on the spot it id the CP 330. I need to replace my S800 though. I will get the a Pixma with 8 separate ink tanks. I don't remember the model number. I have already seen the photos they print. It is quite old though. I am sold on it. I recommend Canon for anyone. You will get only what you pay for though. None of the cheaper printers print as nicely as the more expensive ones. You won't find them at the usual stores(Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot or Office Max.) I buy everything from Canon on the phone.

Yeah this is a good little printer for print, copy, scan.
The resolution of the scan is good enough to allow crisp looking enlargements of photos. The cannon photo wizard software is also good for improving scanned pics before I print them.

As for printer paper, I always go for the name brands, currently using photo glossy A4 Kodak paper.

I HAVE THE LEXMARK 715, WHICH WORKS WELL FOR MY NEEDS. THE ONLY GRIPE , IS AS WITH ALL PRICES ON THE INK . THE PRINTER CAME WITH THE DEAL FROM AOL, BUT THE COST OF THE INKS REALLY IS OUT OF SIGHT.

I have owned the HP all in one printer, scanner, copier for over a year now and have not had a single problem with it. I don't print do any of the above too often but when I do it works great. Even the scans come out pretty good. For basic all in one useage I highly recommend it.

I use a new HP Photosmart 3310 All-in One Printer. It does everything except wax my car! It is fast, and the print quality is SUPERB! It prints photos of varying sizes. These photos are better than those I've purchased at photo stores.

I had (have) an HP 720C one of the first photo quality color ink jet printers...and I loved that the printer was easy to use and network (it now serves as a network printer for my home network and generalized printing) I now own an ePSON c82...An inexpensive photo quality printer using seperate ink canistors...I chose this model because the HP printers ink cartridges are so darn expensive! $45 for a black and $50 for a tree color cartridge where usually only one color ran out! For this reason, I went with a printer with seperate cartridges. For $99 I got a decent printer and 4 cartridges...and not starter cartridges either! I've replaced them many times now...but just the other day, I went to a local store to get new cartridges and gasp! they wanted $36 for a black cartridge! And the seperate color cartridges were almost $15 each! That's $80 for all new cartridges! Luckily they had 3rd party ink but that cost me $50! For the price of cartridges, I might as well purchase a new printer!
I know that the printer companies use the schick razor method of profiteering...sell the razor cheap and charge a mint for the blades, but I think that the printer companies have it backwards...It costs more to make a printer than it does to make ink cartridges, so it would behoove the printer companies to maximize their profits by banking on loyalty. Make printers cost what they cost and charge a reasonable price for the ink...Printer companies are complaining that they aren't making enough money on ink, well for good reason! When I go to a store and see a yellow cartridge running $15 from the manufacturer and $10 from a 3rd party...that's a no-brainer!

I did the same thing with my Canon S800 printer for awhile when all of a sudden my photos came out too red or too green or too blue. I had to run it through the deep cleaning cycle about a dozen or more times to get all of that bad ink off of my print heads. I have 6 ink tanks in my printer that run, at the most, $11.99. I only have to change the color that runs out which saves a whole lot of money. They now have a printer with 8 colors. it is more expensive than what I paid for the one I have, but that will be my next printer. I suggest that next time you buy a printer, buy one where each color in in a separate cartridge.

This printer is very reliable and also hooks up via CAT 5 to our router. Anyone on the wireless net can access it.

This is E-Net input is rarely found on an any quality Photo Printer at Staples in this price range!

For best photos, switch out the black everyday print cartridge for a photo quality gray tone and you can print professional looking 8X10s" on HP Photo Paper. It comes with a cartridge saver adapter to use for the cartridge you take out and store within the lid. Staples brand photo paper is much thinner and prints too light.

This HP 8450 was being cleared out of Staples for $129.00 when I bought it. It was brand new in an unopened box! The HP 8450 features all the various photo card input slots and also has a 2.5" X 2.5" pop up LCD Screen. It can also be used as a backup unit for any of the PCs or Laptops wirelessly with the proper size card installed.

After the clearance sale price and the rebates from Staples and HP, I paid $63 for this brand new printer. I also got free photo and regular paper too! This was well within my office printer budget!

It prints quietly and smoothly. I wish it were faster though when printing photos!

I own Epson Stylus C65 with Photoquicker features.

I am extremely happy with it.

I am now thinking of purchasing the larger type for my work purposes.

They are a bit slow but durable and gives me the best quality prints.

since i received this little devil, i have let the ink tanks dry up in my crappy inkjet printer (also an HP)

Trust me, Once You go Laser (printers) you'll never want to go back to a inkjet again.

I have an HP Laserjet 4500 for color, too. no more inkjets for me. they are just too damn expensive in the long run.

Both of my printers can print between 5,000 to 10,000 prints on a toner cartridge. the 5l does my heavy lifting for black and white prints and the 4500 does whatever color i need.

show me an inkjet that does more than 500 prints on a tank and i'll show you a liar.

toner for 5l = 55 bucks. ink for my inkjet = 595 bucks
thats a hefty difference for printing 5000 pages
