Community poll forum: What's your favorite search engine?

Some search engines seem to give random returns of trash when there is not an exact match. www.teoma.com just returns the message, 'no matches'.

I would have to say Alta Vista. I guess many of you don't remember pre Google days. Well I was there and Google wasn't, It was Yahoo (the search engine Yahoo, not what Yahoo is today), Alta Vista, and a number of others. What I like about Alta Vista is it gives you a choice on your searches and an alternative.
The big question would be, "Are your searches influenced by advertising or paid listings", I don't like that, never did. I remember when it was all free and they didn't even accept paid listings, which could influence your search in my opinion.
Now don't get me wrong, I use Google a lot too, what I am saying to everyone is try some others, in fact do a search on "search engines" and see what comes up. Don't be closed down on just Google. Lots of questions arise with Google, like "Is China affecting your searches, is the US Government affecting your searches?" I don't know but ask questions like these and be flexible.

I use CopernicAgent.The free edition suits me just find.
It saves all of my searches for me.I can update them or modify them at will.
I started using Copernic years ago and I have had no reason to change because it works.

I'm sorry, did I ever mention giving money to google? Or ever buying anything for their advertisements? No I didn't. Because I haven't. If it didn't come bundled with a new computer system, I didn't pay for it.

As for finding your company, what exactly do you do? Chances are I wouldn't even be looking for you. And with that attitude, chances are I would not have bothered even if I DID find you.

(Now if you don't mind, I'm going back to storing files in my 2.6 gigabyte gmail inbox, which is FREE btw)

Google appears to have the fastest time of loading__ and that is why I use it.

Fool, that I am! I read through this far, passing lots of people with Google home pages, until finally someone else who has Google toolbar! Yeah!

The toolbar is great - with an easy to access popup blocker, and an AutoFill function for one click name and address on forms and stuff. You can put your credit card number there too, accessible with password only whenever you wanna use it.

I like Google for the search desktop feature; I use it a lot. If I'm on iwon.com I use ask Jeeves 'cause it racks up daily entries towards your 100 limit (I know, spyware, etc. but hey! Somebody has to win!).
I have recently downloaded the Yahoo! toolbar and I have used their search engine some. Overall, I think Google has the best options and features.

easiest and most thorough search i have used is copernic basic but if you want to pay for the full version i would imagine even more powerfull, this engine searches anything i just type in a suspect file name and 95% of the time find an answer.

Dogpile. It is a meta search engine, and includes Google, Ask Jeeves, Yahoo, and many others. You can pose your question in different formats, including Boolean.

Everything else is just trash!

I'll take Yahoo hands down. If I even have part of the word, it will ask is this what you are looking for, and if it is, click on it and you are there. So many search engines just say it doesn't exist or they can't find anything on it. With Yahoo, I've NEVER had that problem. As for the others, I have had that problem with every other one!

Mainly, it's Google search engine. It's simple, wide, clean, speedy, free.
Practically I use it only.
