Community poll forum: What mobile device do you refuse to travel without?

GPS receiver. A must for travelling by car.

I would never travel without my trusty iRiver H320.
As an international version, I can watch videos, hook up my digital camera and take unlimited pictures, using the USBOTG function, and listen to hours of music.

I WILL NOT/DO NOT leave home with out my cell phone which I have been using for 13 years.
Yes, it's convient to be able to talk "almost" anytime.
But being a woman I find its an absolute Safety need.

Without a doubt it would be the cell phone. All the other stuff is great and real good boredom/time killers and productivity machines. But the cell phone is a must have for staying in touch and emergency situations. An mp3 isn't exactly going to dial 911 when you need it to.

I use the cell phone as an emergency backup as you never know when the old car breaks down or a crazy or drunk driver is on the road.

To find out local traffic, news you still cannot beat local radio stations, unless where you are you have full internet and a local website (usually a TV or radio station) putting that information on their web page. If the power goes out or no internet is available, it becomes news and entertainment. Small speaker systems as well as mini-earphones can add to the usefulness. The speakers and earphones are useful on your other devices as spares if you need them.

For me I take all of the above with me when I am traveling. I would feel lost without them all. I love to be able to take pictures of different things as I am a photo nut. I can not go without my cell phone, I would be lost without the internet as I have lots of mail to read each and everyday. I need to be able to listen to music on the go so take and MP3 with, I am now going to buy an Ipod. I have my digital camcorder that will also be going where ever I go so that I can get even more pics.

Gotta have my Dell Digital Jukebox. I'm a music fanatic and love to listen to my music everywhere I go. The Dell has been perfect. It's a 20Gb, but I still have almost 10Gb left and have 6,926 songs on it. I can put it on shuffle play and not hear the same song in weeks. Plus the battery will last a lot longer than an iPod's.

Yes I too find it invaluable for being out on the roads summer and winter. In summer I carry it both in the van and also when my wife and I bicycle out in the countryside should we have mechanical problems. If I get stuck in snow a tow truck or help for others is but a call away. It's turned off except when I need to use it when I am stopped.
