What punishment should be handed down to virus creators?
They should be fined. (How much?)
They should be sent to prison. (For how long?)
Viruses should be installed on their system. (Wow! How many?)
They should type "I will not create viruses" 1,000 times.
I have something in mind, but it's too explicit to say. (Give us a hint!)
None--it's harmless fun. (Really?)

I agree that the virus creator's family deserves to be spared, however th virus creator himself deserves DEATH. if the virus creator is a male the he deserve a knife shoved down his private and his other 2 privates lit on fire. if the virus creator is a female she deseves her uper privates cut off and she should have acid poured down her lower private.

they should remove the virus from every computer they infected, then they deserve death, not just leathal injections, they deserve a rather painful death

it would be pretty hard for somebody to get rid of the virus or to contain it so i think they should die for their actions or 50 years hard labor... in a jersey casino
Cruel and Unusual Punishment

Why did we do away with Cruel and Unusual punishment? Very few criminals seem to care about prison. And they almost always come out worse than when they went in. The problem is that either we put them away for life, or make them "promise" to never use a computer again.
Right.
If we can prove that they created/deliberately distributed a virus, I'd like them removed from society permanently. Why? All other crimes are based on the number of "counts" - 4 murders is 4 counts of murder 1 for example. If you do 50,000 counts of virus attacks - 1 for each computer you infect, for each persons life that you disrupt, you should either die, or spend the rest of your life paying for it.
I know a lot of people don't believe in the death penalty - but I just have no desire to allow these people to walk around, nor do I want to pay for them to be in jail. And as far as fines - seize all money from the author/distributor. The company benefitting from the virus might not deserve all assets seized, but that should be examined on a case by case basis

When you think about it, when someone realeses a virus they are technicly a terrorist. So they should be put into the terrorist catagory.

If they infect the computers of those who don't deserve it, they should be shot by the owner of the victim macine. If they were to infect the computers of the Westboro Baptist Church, however, they should be honored.

I saw one that mentioned time served and put on a list of cyber crime, just like the child abusers, and losing all rights to hold a civilian or government job. Hackers should also be put there. This crime may not be the same as a family losing a child, but it still puts a huge burden on what the person did to his or her victum. Wjhether it be of a homicide or a infection type, it still hurts and can be of a debilitating form of personal loss.
