Virus That Got Me, & Corrupted Files
It was the Bugbear A or B. Norton is pretty trustworthy though. I think I must have given in to checking an email from a person I didn't know. Temptation can be hard to resist! Now, since getting corrupted files that made me format, then reformat, I won't open mail from anyone I don't know. Also have had programs install corrupt files, which causes havoc as much as a virus. They cause havoc because they end up so deep. Unluckily though, there isn't protection from corrupt files that are written into a program, that I know of. I've had it happen from programs and files I downloaded online, as well as store bought ones. If you ever put a software program in, and after it's installed, you have problems with programs you didn't before that, then uninstall it! If you force the point, you'll end up on the phone for hours with Tech Support, and in the end, you end up formatting anyway. By this point, you wish you did it from the start, for all the wasted time, and frustration it caused.
Whenever something was wrong, I always ran Norton, and it came out fine, except for the Bugbear virus. The computer in the other room got another variant of it also. So, I ended up doing both (WHAT A HASSLE!). It's a good idea to write down your address book and bookmarks, usernames and passwords, in case the worse happens, that way you have the important stuff and it can't be taken away again. Also make a list of programs you want to reinstall- online as well as software at home. This stuff I've learned the hard way, and hope that you take serious what I've said. When the computer no longer works, this way you are saved. Thanks for reading my post.
