Adobe Flash player problem

I have a HP tower, 6000 series, system 7, IE 8.

I have installed/uninstalled flash player three times. Youtube still doesn't know I have it. I just (uninstalled and) downloaded (from the adobe site) it earlier today because Ancestry didn't think I had it. I could then view the document. I just went to youtube and it says I need to install flash player.

I did refuse google chrome and toolbar. Would that mess it up?

Any ideas?

https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&as_q=ie8+flash+player+not+working finds many answers but I'm going with change the browser to Chrome and try again.
