EOS Utility FTP Set Up

Hi,

I've just bought a WFT-E4 wireless transmitter for my Canon 5d Mk II camera. I'm setting up my wireless, however when I try and enter my login info in the FTP settings section to try and browse for a target folder for my photos, it says:

Could not connect to the destination server.
Invalid login name or password.

Does anybody know why this is? The login information is correct!

Try KISS

KISS is Keep It Simple Simon.

Many of these cards have trouble with spaces or other than alphanumerics in name, passwords and folders. I've seen it fail on upper case letters too.

I'm not saying that's it but as you bump into these things you learn more KISS.

Many routers block such and you'll get that errror. Here's a similar discussion where I note this issue.

I see folk are demand error messages that are usable. So far, no.

Almost fixed!

Hi Bob,

I think you've hit the nail on the head with that, took my dongle out and tried again! Didn't get the 'invalid user name or password' pop up, however this time, it took a lot of time thinking about it, then said:

Could not connect to the destination server.
The request has timed out.

Any ideas?

Well, that sounds like it made it past the firewall.

I am not privy to all you have done but the Windows Firewall blocks too much too. And you have name and IP address issues to address.

TCP/IP is pretty neat stuff but I worry about its use in the land of consumers. You see how many levers, switches and wheels you turned to get this a little step ahead. What else is left is not known to me as I'm not there.

I'm not on Windows, I'm on a Mac so can't be Windows Firewall.

Mac can have a firewall too.

You can try one more thing. Put the Mac into the DMZ of the router for a test. As this varies with each router, I can't be specific.
