I'm sorry, it does work...

Okay, I'm sorry, maybe I'm mixing something up.
The last time I tried to open the files with IrfanView, it didn't work, but I don't remember the error message (it wasn't on my computer, maybe it was an older version of IrfanView).
I've tried it now (using IrfanView on my pc) and it seems to work.
I can open the original 48 bit tif files ("Original colors: 16,7 Millions (48 BitsPerPixel)"). But it says it has 2 pages, which confuses me.
I get those files from somebody else, who is scanning with the SilverFast software. He also saved one image as 48 bit HDR tiff and as 48 bit jpeg. The HDR version looks much worse (much darker and kind of blurred) and the jpeg version cannot be opened by IrfanView.
Since I can convert the original and uncompressed 48 bit tiff to jpeg by myself (now), the 48 bit jpeg file shouldn't be a big problem (it was just a test anyway).
But I'm wondering about the poor quality of that "HDR" version...
