Why reposition the cursor?

When I'm writing a note here and want to insert an emoticon, the cursor always jumps from where I had it to the upper left corner of the box. This is when I click "Turn visual editor ON". Why doesn't it leave the cursor where you have it? It's frustrating, why do they do that?

There wasn't anyway around this. Believe I noticed this immediately before we went out with the visual editor,. If I remember correctly it is because the form state is changed and there is no way for the system know where you left off.

Sorry about that, I wish there was a way to address that.

It would seem to the casual observer that when someone clicks on the "Turn visual editor ON" button, that the software could save the cursor position first and put it in a place where the subsequent code could find and restore it. I have no idea how this is programmed, so I could easily be wrong. It's not that big a deal; I'm getting used to it, but it just seems a bit strange.
