Forum feedback forum: too few items on software update pages

I agree 100%. This is terrible on my 11" MacBook Air. I'm looking for a new site to get a similar list of updates, but with many more items per page.

The New Mac Software page is the one that bothers me. It used to be relatively dense, with many items on one screen. The new format requires way too much scrolling, especially on small screens. And way too many clicks on "Next" are required, as there are too few items per page.

But, don't expend too much energy on it. I've taken CNet New Mac Software out of my daily rotation and now I go to the MacUpdate page instead. I used to prefer VersionTracker (which was absorbed by CNet), as VersionTracker (and CNet) seemed to carry many updates that didn't get picked up by MacUpdate. But, MacUpdate appears to have upped their game on the number of updates they cover, and their page layout is much, much better suited to small screens. So, I'll go there instead from now on.

The previous version was certain much denser, so more items were visible on the screen at once. And I also believe that there were many more items on one page.

With the current format, the first view of the page shows 7 items on the screen when you first go to the page on a 24" iMac (page scrolled all the way to the top). On the MacUpdate page, I see 28 items.

On my 11" MacBook Air, the first view of the page shows 3 items. Scroll to the next screen to see 6 more. On MacUpdate, the first view shows 12 items. Scroll to the next screen and I see 24 more.

Roughly the MacUpdate format puts four times the number of items in the same space. It isn't quite as pretty, but it is much more usable.

And again, don't put energy in this on my account. I've already removed this CNet page from my daily rotation. I'll use MacUpdate from now on.
