comment "authentication" preventing cnet users from comments

I see a number of cnet blogs using this new user "authentication" system. It asks the user to "authenticate" by giving your facebook credentials or other social networking credentials. The problem is, thus far, if you're a cnet user with a valid cnet account, you can't comment on these blogs! And what's more, THIS user isn't giving any of my social networking credentials just to comment on blogs because it's none of you people's damned business what social networks I'm on.

Stephen Shankland tells me in an email reply asking about this that the "developers" left out Cnet logins, but it's their "top priority" to fix this problem. I can fix the problem myself locally by just not going to the blog posts anymore.

I fail to see the reason WHY the CNET ID login was left OUT of the options. After all, i thought i was visiting ARSTechnica. My Mistake. Come one folks please fix this issue. And maybe change the layout of the new comments to where the first comment is right after the article and not at the bottom of the page. Very confusing when trying to read an article only to have to scroll down to follow a conversation between the members.

You should be able to post comments using your CNET registered information now. This was implemented a couple of weeks ago I believe.

I've passed your feedback to the product manager of CNET News.com.

I believe integrating CNET's log in is in the works with Echo's commenting system and it will be released very soon.

Currently Echo is only being tested on the CNET blogs Deep Tech and Webware.
