Car stereo doesn't play first track on burned discs

I burned a bunch of audio CDs in iTunes because the stock radio in my 2001 Volvo doesn't have an aux port. However, the stereo refuses to play the first track on any of them. It does not report an error and spit out the disc, it simply whirs a bit and never starts playing. If I fast-forward to the next track, the rest of the CD plays perfectly. The CDs play in any other player with no issues, and the error does not occur when I play a disc I bought from Amazon.


I'm not sure whether the problem is due to some issue with burning in iTunes, or some option I can disable, or what.

Not all players are compatible with burned disks. This seems an example.

It might be a knock-out criterion on your next car stereo. Although most new ones will be able to connect to a mp3-player, which you might like even more.

I understand that not all players are compatible with burned discs, that was my first thought, but I've never seen it fail to play the first track yet play the rest of the disc like is happening here. Either way, thanks for the help.

Had something similar . . .

I had something similar with just one burned disc - the car player seemed to "fast-forward" the opening few seconds of the first track, played them but at high speed. Never found out what caused this but it seems to have corrected itself!
The track in question is Summer of '69 (Bryan Adams) and if you're familiar with it you'll know it's a pretty good guitar riff so really spoiled it at first!
Try repeatedly playing the the disc and also cleaning the laser with a cleaning disc, might just do the trick! I know i put the laser cleaning disc through mine at some point between when it played up and when it started playing right but can't be sure if that's what did the job!
