Need help rewriting a CD-R disk

I have a DVD-RW drive and im trying to rewrite a CD-R disk but theres no option in the windows explorer window to erase the disk. I also downloaded a freeware DVD/CD eraser but that gives me an error that says the media isnt erasable or the burner does not support the media type and to insert a re-writable disk. Im betting that the R in the CD-R doesnt stand for rewritable but recordable but Id figure Id ask someone that knows for sure. Thanks.

Windows 7 home premium 64 bit
HP DVD-RAM GH40L SCSI CdRom
Attempting to burn: Fuji Film CD-R recodable disk
AMD 2.30
2 GB ram

can't rewrite a cd-r, only a cd-rw (rewritable).

Finalize

Hi,
You can add data later, if you don't finalize your cd-r. Just remember that it doesn't work with other cd drives or players.
