If you're getting music off of limewire, chances are it's illegal. The people uploading the stuff probably don't have permission to do so, unless they are actually the performers themselves.
Depending on which mp3 player you have, you could pay for a subscription service such as Rhapsody to go - all you can download or stream, playable on upto 3 computers and downloadable on upto 3 supported mp3 players. $15/month gives you legal access to millions of songs. You stop paying, they stop playing...you can't burn them to cd unless you buy the individual tracks or albums. But still, access to millions of songs for the price of one cd per month.
I realize this isn't what you really want, but more than likely any answer that involves illegally obtained content will either be locked or deleted. If I don't say it, a moderator probably will.
Sometimes you can find free content on the artists' websites, especially if they're not "big" yet. Or you can look through the other posts in this forum...I'm sure some other service is mentioned, although usually just to complain.
