HDTV for PC Gaming?

So, I've made the switch from console to PC gaming, but I want to keep gaming from my couch/recliner.
My current TV is a 32inch, 720p Panasonic Viera. It is a very nice TV, especially for Xbox 360 gaming, but I feel it has limits for PC gaming. I just can't see as big of a gain from switching to a PC when sticking with 720p as I was expecting.
My budget is around $500, so I understand that used or refurb (or a daily deals site) may be where I need to look. I'm looking for a screen that is between 37 and 42 inches.
My question is, what should I look for in a TV that I plan to use for PC gaming? I know to avoid caring about any kind of post processing (e.g., 120hz, etc) to reduce input lag, but what else? I also don't care about 3D, Smart features or anything like that. I've heard something about 4:4:4 pixels - should I care about that?
I probably want to stick to LCD/LED LCD since I will be moving every once in a while and don't want to deal with the difficulties of moving a plasma... unless plasma really is the way to go.
Any specific recommendations?
Thanks for the help!
