Panasonic P50UT50 visual noise

I recently bought a Panasonic P50UT50 which I use to watch HD content either from my Blue Ray player or the computer, both connected via HDMI. I have noticed the screen showing quite a bit of visual noise, and the nature of the noise differs depending on which HDMI input the TV is switched to.
With the input set to HDMI 1 (upper port) I get random pixels of color noise ("color snow") in the dark portions of the screen (which washes out the "near-perfect black" that this TV supposedly is capable of producing) but no visible noise in the lighter areas. With HDMI 2 (lower port) selected as the input the situation is reversed, with the lighter areas of the screen showing noticeable color snow and the dark areas being pretty darn dark except for thin dark-grayish stripes running up the screen.
Both the "color snow" and the running lines are only visible up close, although, as I said before, with HDMI 1 the blacks appear pretty washed out. The noise is visible regardless of whether anything is actually plugged into the ports.
Now I wonder if all UT50 sets share this quirk or whether I was unlucky enough to get a lemon.
