Cable Reception Issue

Presently have DirecTV Satellite Cable. The signal is not the issue. The coaxial cable in the home is split to two televisions. The main television is connected by a 6ft cable after the splitter. The second television is connected by five segments of identical coax cable . The image of the second television is quite poor using this connection but perfectly clear when using the digital converter. There are some times with the DirecTV coax connection is as clear as with the main television.

Not sure how to troubleshoot this. Images of what I see are uploaded to a Microsoft online folder at:

Use one long coax-cable in stead of 5 short ones. And make it as short as possible.

Easy to check by (temporarily, just to diagnose the issue) moving the second television to a place near the splitter.

Coax and connectors

That run of multiple links is attenuating the signal beyond the analog threshold to receive it. As you saw, digital gives better reception with weaker signals. Replacing the long run with a single piece of coax should solve the problem. Another solution would be to put an amplifier before the splitter.

Shouldn't this be DirecTV's problem, why is it your problem? What are you doing with a digital converter? Shouldn't you be using another DirecTV box instead?
