I'm trying to convert my hd video of volleyball matches to a format the team parents can use to share their daughters playing time with other coaches. Not sure if there is a format that is generic enough to allow this to be accomplished. Is there a format that would allow everyone to edit the video to just show their daughter's play? Thank you in advance for any help you can provide to me.

Video editing is complicated for most people

Even doing basic cuts is well beyond most folks' experience using digital gadgets.

Unless your target viewers are willing to learn how to use basic video editing tools, I'd suggest Bob's advice.

Just put it on a DVD as a file and tell them to play it with VLC Player?

Good question Bob. I have always just downloaded the match films for my own use but now the team and the coach would like copies so I've not put them on a DVD before. When I tried to write them to a DVD I got a message there wans't enough space on the dvd even though the space was clearly more than the video took up. The team also opened a dropbox account but because the files are so large I can't put them on there. I'm not a tech guy but another parent suggested changing the format so the files were more manageable. What is a VLC player? Thanks for your response!

The free version won't suffice, clearly. Or pony up for higher priced storage space in the 'cloud' such as Amazon S3 or Jungle, etc.

When you author to DVD, typically the compressed footage can take up even more space. Camcorder footage is often a flavor of MP4, while DVD is normally MPEG2.

VLC player (Free download)- best thing since sliced bread, really wink
