This is for second system not upgrade...
I do plan on keeping my current system and using it in a different room and having a new better version of what I have now which I am happy with. It seemed that the price of $524 was really good for this unit so perhaps a good time to buy it. It seems to me to be an upgraded version of the AV receiver I already have.
My current system.
Pioneer Elite VSX-30
Panasonic BD-210 Blu Ray player.
Epson 8350 Home Cinema projector ceiling mounted
120 inch electric ceiling mounted screen
Energy Take Classic 5.1 speaker system
Energy CF-30 tower speakers in front.
I play everything from shows from my cable box (almost always in HD) and use Netflix a lot as well as Blu Rays. I am running a Ethernet cable to the Blu Ray even though it is WiFi capable, it is also the means I use for getting Netflix or other internet content.
It works fine for my current location and plan on using all of it in a new location such as a bedroom or some other place than my main home theater.
I plan on using a larger screen, I will be moving so I can't say much more than it will be the largest I can fit.
Since I like the Pioneer receiver I have I think this one, especially with upgraded features would be one I would like even more and the price seems to be good in comparison to any other price around typically in the $1000 range. Some things I like about it are the D3 amplification, network connectivity and the video and sound processing for both video and music sources.
For the rest of the system I plan to do what I did with the last one which was to purchase the components as I could afford them and when on really good sales. I will likely try to invest a bit more in to the speakers, I expect an even larger/louder viewing and listening area than I have now. I will be buying a 3D projector and Blu Ray player, both of which I have not decided upon yet.
I realize that it would be ideal to have the room configuration etc. all known before buying anything but especially with the receiver and if it is at a price not likely to come around again in the next 6 months having that to add to makes sense to me. I did this with my last system and it worked out great for me and allowed me to buy things when on huge sales so my end cost was much lower than it would have been had I not been able to wait for things to go on the big limited time sales. My question here is if this receiver is a deal good enough to buy now not knowing if there will be other sales of this amount down the road or not. Also if it seems to be as good as it appears to me for the price range.
