How to burn DVD?!

If I ever wanted to do something stupid like share a HD camcorder file with people that have those annoying DVD players, How do I put the dumb files on a pesky DVD and make them playable in those nuisance DVD players?! I have a DVD Player. I have DVD R discs. I have DVD Flick and I have ImgBurn. I have a netbook. I still need to get a boring DVD Burner. Will a USB DVD Burner work? I can't burn the evil DVDs yet, but I have set up DVD Flick to create a .iso file. Apparently DVD Flick and ImgBurn can communicate with each other and it actually opens ImgBurn to create a .iso file

When I get a DVD Burner, and insert a DVD R (or do I need DVD RW?) ... will I be able to simply place the .iso file onto the blank and absent minded DVD? And even more simple: Would all I have do do is use the tasteless Windows Explorer to burn the brainless DVD?! And then the banal DVD will play if I put it in the ridiculous DVD player?

Because you lead with "HD".

The result must be a "Video DVD" which is not HD. HOWEVER, please try DVD FLICK. I like to record the resulting .ISO (my choice) with IMGBURN.

Both are free with many tutorials.

You can buy external DVD/CD drives for around $30 that will do what you need. You don't need DVD-RWs, just DVD-Rs or DVD+Rs. I use Roxio and Nero to burn my DVDs, so I can just double-click an ISO and burn it. A lot of folks like Imgburn, but I've never used it. It must be pretty easy to use though since it's so popular, not to mention FREE. grin

As Bob pointed out, he's working with high def footage from a camcorder as source material. You cannot author high definition footage to be played back on DVD players, only blu ray. Sorry.

Problem aside, with the proper software/s HD file can be put on a dvd disc. However, it must be play on a bru-ray player or some other HD format that has dvdplayer which support it...such as divx.

I'm well aware of what you are alluding to, but re-read the thread. Ordinary DVD players won't play back HD footage, if the OP is referring to baseline authoring of HD camcorder footage to a DVD for use by folks who don't yet have Blu ray players. That doesn't work. We aren't talking about simply copying HD files using DiVX, etc. Again, read more carefully what he wrote above. It's fairly clear to me that he does not want to lose resolution in the process, hence the complaints about having to deal with old DVD technologies.

The OP could make the process even easier by simply uploading footage to the cloud instead of worrying about discs/player incompatibilities entirely.
