Bigger TV's have good support

Just not the 32" I suppose.

I have an LG, a Samsung and a Panasonic that all have pretty comprehensive support, an external hard drive...no problems, any thumb drive....no problem, most any codec...no problem. It all gets pretty dicey when you get down to 32" models to be sure.

Thanks for your reply. I have used both Boxee Boxes and WD TV's but didnt want to have to spend the an extra $100 for a workout TV to be able to play back what I needed it to, but it may well come to that.

Most any codec? Um, hardly. My guess is, you aren't testing enough file types and codecs, or at least aren't using the same variety that I am on a regular basis (MKV? No, not one that's heavily support anywhere). Even the bigger panels do a crappy job thus far. It's a known issue which is well discussed. See forums such as AVS if you want the skinny.

I suppose you come from esoteric land, with 6 dozen containers and codecs.
Most everything I've tried to play with newer LG,s Samsungs and Panasonics has played.

I found what I needed in a television, thanks to all for playing.
