In our quest to find video nirvana, we've checked Consumer Reports, Cnet, and now the Amazon system.
That's the only organized reference we could find that was created ( or is supposed to be created ) by actual customers. ( There's some feedback on CR, but in much smaller numbers. )
The Amazon ratings seem to follow in step, without significant deviations from "conventional wisdom".
However, all of the "best" sets we check always have a handful of "horror stories" attached to them.
Are these defective sets just a by-product of mass production? Is that just a chance we have to take?
CR does have a ranking of "brand reliability" but it doesn't indicate how well any issue was, or could be, resolved.
There will always be some "sour grapes" about something, but many of the problems sound serious, and the owners attempts at fixing them sounded futile.
Do any of the major brand players have better than average customer service in case of an "issue"?
( Amazon itself comes off well in most postings. )
Thanks.
