Hello: what hardware is available that would allow me to set a recording time to record from a stream? (We have an ATT box that does that, but there's a stream not available there). I don't mind buying a box to store the stream like the WD live hub, but it would be nice to have the storage device also record the stream (without my being there). Thank you.

Your everyday recorders should fail for content delivered over ATT Uverse and such. So given that you really need to ask if the content is copy protected in ways to make recording difficult.
With that out of the way you can google what is BLACK MAGIC HDMI capture cards. Put that into a PC and you might have it.

...from being able to capture the encrypted content. There's HDCP, which the Black magic seems to circumvent, and there's 5C.
All HDMI recorders so far.
