I'd really appreciate help making this decision...don't want to get to the store and be snowed into a bad choice for me.
I've been watching a 32" Sony Bravia that's about 4-5 years old, with LCD and 1080i. It's primary use is for TV watching, Netflix, including blue-ray disks and instant watch stuff. The room is dim, even in midday and primary seating is 10"-11" from the TV.
I'm about to move this set to my son's room...I'm tired of sharing time and purchase a new TV for my viewing. The maximum size the room/space can handle is 42", In my price range (under $600), it looks like my choices are plasmas at 780 resolution or LED LCDs with 1080 resolution. I understand that the plasma is better in a dim room and for wide angle viewing, which I sometimes need (watch from an oblique angle while in the kitchen.)
So I am inclined toward the plasma, but am concerned that the lower resolution will be a bummer. Any advice?
