How Can I Connect a Droid Stick to a Receiver?

I recently bought a Uhost 2 droid stick that has an HDMI cable. I want to be able to connect this to my receiver but the receiver has no HDMI inputs. So right now it is connected straight to my tv that does have HDMI inputs but the sound comes out of the tv speakers.

I still have not connected my tv to the receiver using the optical audio out since I need to buy it but if I do that will I actually be able to get sound from the droid stick to the receiver via the tv's optical out audio?

Note, the Uhost droid stick does not have any optical audio jacks to route straight to the receiver.

But the features are all over the map. However all the models I've seen do not have another audio output so you use the TV output. Which will be stereo. That's another reason to get a receiver.
