alternative to BOSE home entertainment system

Hi, I would love to buy the BOSE lifestyle V35 home entertainment system but its too expensive and people on forums say it isn't worth the cost anyway but I love the way it has everything in one media centre and the ipod can be attached too. I have a blueray DVD play and a smart t.v. Is there an alternative media centre/ entertainment audio system like the BOSE one that I can buy and some speakers or is there more to it than that. I obviously have no idea what I am doing!!!! Can anyone advise. I live 1 hr. north of Brisbane. thanks in advance

At least that's what I hear.

Indeed, most of the Bose products are way overpriced. For similar money you could do better. What is your approximately budget for this project?

Why not go with more reasonably priced separates (e.g. AV receiver & speakers/sub) if you already have the disc player & smart HDTV? You will have more choices and better sound/greater options to configure you viewing/listening space.

While a simple HTIB (home theater in a box) might suffice since it's similar to what you get with the V35, I still think you could shop around, do research for awhile to get a better sense of whether or not separate components might be more ideal.
