A/V Receiver For Speakers In Multiple Rooms

Hi,

I'm moving into a new home that has surround built-in in the living room and ceiling speakers in 4 other rooms throughout the house. Connections for all these speakers are in the wall in the living room. I need a A/V receiver that can handle the surround (5.1) as well as the 4 other pairs of ceiling speakers. I'm assuming the 4 other sets of speakers would be front (type) speakers, so I want a receiver powerful enough so there's no lose of volume in each room.

Any suggestions would be appreicated.

Essentially, you will need the following equipment to get the ball rolling if you want the volume to be adequate enough in the other spaces

-AV receiver that provides what you need for the main surround viewing/listening space; ideally this will have L/R pre-out to connect a second amp. Zone 2 options on some models might not always work, FWIW.

Example-

-A separate dedicated amplifier to run the four pairs of speakers in different rooms and keep the volume adequate/lighten the load from the main receiver

-Speaker selector with impedance matching that can handle at least four pairs. Some of them can also help with playing back more than once source in the four different rooms.

*Monoprice may have some equivalent products as well. Check Crutchfield as well.

I forgot to add, that sometimes people are pushed into using a receiver with zone 2/zone 3 options, but they don't always work well, depending on what the rest of your equipment/system needs are. Ditto for A+B speakers. You have to dig a little to get it just right for your particular situation, especially if your budget is somewhat limited. AVS forum is a great resource in this regard.
