Having Dolby Digital Issues between Denon AVR2800 and new TV

I cant seem to get Dolby Digital sound out of my new Panasonic TC-P50UT50. I have tried 2 different optical cables and no go. I called Panasonic and they were absolutely zero help. Spent an hour on phone and it was like pulling teeth. I have tried using cable and BluRay as passthrough and no dice. I move BlueRay or Cable to either optical or coaxial and voila..DD. Any ideas out there?

...to know for certain, would you please provide more specifics on your hardware/system, and how it's all connected. For example:

Comcast cable box (HDMI out) --> (HDMI in) Denon AV receiver
Blu Ray player (HDMI out)--> (HDMI in) Denon AV

Denon (HDMI out) --> (HDMI in) Pannasonic UT50

Also, could you clarify what you mean when you state 'I have tried using cable and BluRay as passthrough'. Exactly what type of connections were you making/assuming when you did this(?) Keep in mind that 99% of HDTVs will not pass through an audio signal as you suggest. AV receivers (preferably, w/ HDMI) are the components which need to be used as hubs per se.

HD output is one of those areas that only is guaranteed when on OTA.

There is no technical reason they did that except to protect HD content. In the process messed up a good thing.
