Answer Best answer as chosen by user misterchames Researched this endlessly
and came to a conclusion I never imagined...MagicJackPlus! First, go to the MagicJackPlus site online, read info and watch the short very-easy-to-understand video.
Cost to start up: $79.99 plus S&H ordered over their site online
You get for this amount: MagicJackPlus equipment (including all necessary cords) and first year of free local and long distance service, U.S. and Canada, outgoing and incoming......$29.99 A YEAR after the end of first year
Before ordering, check to see if your Google phone # can be "ported", i.e., transferred away from your current service provider (almost all #'s are able to be ported)
Research consumer feedback online.........MagicJackPlus is BBB registered, so check on complaints and complaint resolutions
You only need ONE MagicJackPlus adapter........plugs into an electric outlet....can also be powered through being plugged INTO your computer, which with Google phone # you want to do..........then you plug your wireless phone system's MAIN BASE into the MagicJackPlus.....additional wireless phones (that are all part of the main wireless system) can be based in other rooms on their smaller individual base chargers, and of course the phones can be used anywhere throughout the house and outside, according to your systems limits
The modem for my high-speed internet and the wireless router are in the den at the front of my house, and that's also where my main wireless phone base/answering machine are located............then the phones I use are in my bedroom and living room, with their charging bases.....since I can access my messages through the phones themsleves, I don't have to keep going to the front of my house to listen to messages..........
I hope I covered all the bases here (pun).....I am so happy with my choice and the money I save annually.....$600!
THEN, I'm also happy that I disconnected cable TV, installed The Leaf Plus (best indoor antenna we have tested" HDTV Magazine) and get loads of VHF/UHF HD TV channels FREE. I have a Samsung 3D Bluetooth player which can stream Netflix to my TV......and I watch most of my favorite news channels and some top current TV shows on my PC...........
My monthly check to Cox has dropped from $174 to $48 (internet only), then add $8 monthly for Netflix and $1.66 for phone service...that's a drop from $2,000+ to $630 or so, annually..............
Those savings pay my annual property taxes and homeowners insurance.............THAT is great!
Good luck!
