Sony BDP-S570 Firmware

I bought this player awhile ago when my at the time lg390 quit playing newer movies and lg quit releasing new firmware updates. On the sony i would get an update almost every time i turned it on which was nice because i havent had an issue in a long time. these updates i was getting stopped and havent seen one in months, thankfully i havent had any issues with new movies but did firmware for this player just stop or have the discs themselves finally just stabilized where updates are not as big of problem?

Updates are only needed when they are needed.

There are less new copy protection schemes now so it has slowed down.

If you are watching the show (that is the industry strangling itself over this) you knew they had to slow down since the consumers get a little irate when a BD player doesn't play a new title. Telling the consumer to wait for a firmware update is unacceptable to that consumer.

They bought the title to watch it now. Queue a small child to the stage and the lines are simple "I want it now." Add more lines as you see fit.

Maybe I've written too much.

Makes sense I just want to make sure its not considered EOL and wont be getting any updates in the future its an awesome player otherwise.

This is not something consumers are going to accept and if a maker did do this, the consumer will not buy that brand again.

-> In effect, the issue of firmware updates and the way they did it on BluRay is self correcting. That is, the industry paid a heavy price and consumers are often upset as titles don't play (example is that Avengers title and some makers.)

As I see the end of physical media is upon us, I don't buy many titles on media today.

Unfortunately we do not receive release dates of firmware updates until about the same time the updates are pushed out (sorry).
