Acer projector user experience

I used to be a happy owner of the Acer DLP P5260 projector. I had to change this state recently, because firstly the Lamp started to flicker after 500hours of operation in Eco mode (10% of the claimed lifetime) and currently, day after day more and more dead pixels appear on the screen. Currently I have <1000 Hours of operation and the screen looks like attached (same amount of the black pixels can be found as well). I find it totally unsatisfactory as the DMD chip replacement is worth the price of the new projector!

My device is operated in static conditions hang on the ceiling, room temperature. So totally standard conditions, yet the Acer device malfunctioned so drastically after such a short time! It's really unpleasant, even more in the time of the Olympic games.

I'm want to warn the potential Acer customers about these covered facts of the Acer products. I hope this will force them to improve the quality of the products.

Go up the food chain

Contact their corporate offices to get better results if the product is no longer covered by warranty. That's the best way to have a good shot at a replacement/repair that doesn't your an arm and a leg wink. Be firm, but polite, and you might get someone to assist IME.

actually I tried. Problem is you won't find any email address for any of them that easy.
If you know one just share it.
If not In just think it's a lost battle sad

btw. I checked and I have the projector since january 2009. So almost as new sad

Ti seems to be extending their DLP DMP warranty to 5 years

Since Acer uses the Ti DMD DLP (from what I can tell) you may want to use this detail when you discuss the DMD DLP issue.

LIGHT BULBS. I can't imagine you have not had a LIGHT BULB give out early. Pop in a new one!
