Use of thin bezel??

I want to buy a new LED TV, and I went to a LG showroom to have a look at some of their TV models. I was particularly impressed by the LM series - well designed and with good features. I noticed they have very thin frames (it is called bezel, the salesman informed me!). I want to know, is the thin bezel a design feature only, or does it have a practical use?

If you are going to hang it on the wall..maybe. If you are going to sit it on a tv stand then I would say none.

LG was awarded for the thinnest bezel frame for their upcoming LG OLED TV.

The thin bezel is a design feature that also has its practical use. It is one of the highlights of the Cinema Screen Design - providing a cinematic experience similar to that of a movie theater. Also, it makes for more immersive viewing while watching pictures in 3D.

The thin bezel frame has the purpose for the viewer to be able to see more of the viewing screen. Not only does the thin bezel frame have the viewer be able to see more of the actual picture, but it serves as a great design feature. Who would want a thick bezel frame, which makes the TV look chunkier.
