How much worth buying 3D TVs are?

I am largely puzzled whether it would be a good decision to invest thousands of dollars in buying 3D TV? Or which one would be the option to go for passive or active 3D and why?

Nah. You could pick up a perfectly suitable plasma HDTV with excellent 2D & 3D capabilities for ~ $1K right now, if you are in the United States. Panasonic (for example) makes some great models with excellent features built in.

There are plenty of AV/internet articles concerning Active vs passive 3D you can search for using google, it's not worth re-hashing that discussion. You could also search this forum for those threads too.

First, check if you can see 3D. Estimates say 4 to 10% can't

If you can't see the 3D effect, it's not worth a dime.

Also, it's not in the thousands here in the USA.

More at http://www.cnn.com/2010/TECH/01/15/3d.tv.opinion/index.html notes the 4 to 10% number.

3D TVs are not expensive at all. It won't cost you thosands of dollars. I just got a LG 47" SMART TV+3D for a little over a grand.

3D TVs have been out for awhile now, and they are not getting very expensive at all. I got my LG TV for under a grand. I suggest you go to Costco over Bestbuy though.

I have mentioned 'thousands' because I saw some price tags on Amazon for Samsung UN55ES8000 $2298 and Panasonic 65-inch VIERA TC-P65VT30 $2199 which let me ask this quarry on forum. How about LG 55-inch LM8600? It would cost around $1300 and it has passive 3d; is that a way to go?

Don't be afraid, 3d TV won't cost you thousands of dollars; nowadays it's pretty cheap. LG had launched its LM passive models starting from $700 to $2000. All of them have six pairs of passive 3d glasses with no extra charges. It's seems to be a good deal!

3D Glasses

3D TVs have became the main stream as for now and we have a lot of 3d contents now to watch for. The thing that makes me worried is the glasses that comes up with 3D TV.
They are said to be bulky and harmful to health as well
