Plasmas generally have a faster response rate than LED/LCD screens, so they are very good for gaming. However, if you play a game with a HUD, you have to watch out for image retention. For the most part, they are reversible, but it's still annoying to get rid of it when it does happen. You have to let the TV settle in with about 100-150 hours before the image retention problem goes away. Panasonic plasmas are definitely the way to go.
On the other hand, if you want to play 3D games, most definitely go for a passive 3D screen. Playing for hours on end on an active 3D setup can give people headaches and dizziness due to the flickering seen in this technology. The best passive 3D TV brand out there is LG right now.
